Trump Erupts When Press Asks About Fallen Soldiers Fundraising
During a press gaggle aboard Air Force One on Sunday, Donald Trump resorted to his familiar strategy of attacking the questioner instead of addressing the inquiry directly.
A female reporter prompted Trump with a question regarding the appropriateness of his political action committee sending out a fundraising email that featured an official photo from the dignified transfer ceremony of six service members who lost their lives in the Iran conflict.
“I do,” Trump initially responded, seemingly acknowledging the question.
However, when the reporter highlighted allegations that he was exploiting the deaths of these troops for fundraising purposes, Trump claimed he “didn’t see” the email in question.
“I mean, somebody puts it out,” he continued. “We have a lot of people working for us. But there’s nobody that’s better to the military than me. And all you have to do is look at the election. Look at the election results. Look at the kind of votes that we get. Look at the poll numbers. There’s nobody that’s ever been higher as a president than me with the military.”
Shifting gears, Trump then questioned the reporter's affiliation, and upon learning she worked for ABC News, he launched into a tirade against the network, labeling it “one of the worst, most fake, most corrupt.”
The reporter pressed on, asking, “Will you comment on the six dead soldiers?”
Trump sidestepped the question entirely, redirecting his ire back at ABC. “You know what, ABC News, I think it’s maybe the most corrupt news organization on the planet. I think they’re terrible.”
Undeterred, the reporter reiterated her question: “Can you give a comment on the soldiers?”
Trump dismissed her inquiry with, “OK, I don’t want any more from ABC.”
