Trump Labels Mail-In Voting as "Cheating" While Casting His Own Ballot

Washington — President Trump, who has consistently denounced mail-in voting as "cheating," participated in this very method during Florida's recent special elections, according to public records.

Documentation from the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections reveals that Trump cast his mail-in ballot for the special election concerning Florida's 87th district statehouse seat. He publicly endorsed Republican candidate Jon Maples in this race.

The county's election website indicates that the president requested his ballot on Saturday, March 14, received it the next day, and successfully submitted his vote. Notably, he was at his Palm Beach estate that weekend, coinciding with the availability of early in-person voting.

Just days after voting by mail, Trump spoke at an anti-crime meeting in Memphis, Tennessee, asserting, "Mail-in voting means mail-in cheating. I call it mail-in cheating, and we got to do something about it all."

The initial report of Trump's mail-in vote came from a major news outlet. While Florida's records only reflect votes cast within the past year, it has been previously noted that Trump also requested a mail-in ballot during the 2020 elections.

For years, Trump has criticized mail-in voting, alleging without substantiation that it is fraught with fraud and advocating for its prohibition. He is pushing Congress to enact the SAVE America Act, which would impose stricter voter ID requirements and curtail mail-in voting.

"I am going to lead a movement to get rid of MAIL-IN BALLOTS," he declared on Truth Social last August. "... ELECTIONS CAN NEVER BE HONEST WITH MAIL IN BALLOTS/VOTING, and everybody, IN PARTICULAR THE DEMOCRATS, KNOWS THIS. I, AND THE REPUBLICAN PARTY, WILL FIGHT LIKE HELL TO BRING HONESTY AND INTEGRITY BACK TO OUR ELECTIONS."

Trump has long attributed his defeat to Joe Biden in 2020 to mail-in voting practices, despite having won under similar conditions four years prior.
