Trump Raged at Staff for Hours After US Pilots Disappeared in Iran

Upon learning that two American pilots were unaccounted for in Iran on Good Friday, President Donald Trump unleashed a torrent of anger at his aides, reportedly “screaming for hours.” This reaction came as an F-15 fighter jet was downed over Iranian territory on April 3, igniting a critical rescue operation for the missing airmen.

One pilot was quickly rescued after ejecting from the aircraft, but the second remained behind enemy lines for over 24 hours before being safely extracted. As events unfolded, Trump’s anxiety regarding the situation escalated, with fears reminiscent of the 1979 Iranian hostage crisis looming large in his thoughts.

According to sources, Trump’s outburst followed news of the downed jet and the missing crew. A senior administration official revealed that “images of the 1979 Iranian hostage crisis—one of the biggest international policy failures of a presidency in recent times—had been looming large in his mind.”

In Washington, D.C., senior aides, including Vice President JD Vance and White House chief-of-staff Susie Wiles, convened in the Situation Room to receive updates while Trump was kept out of the loop. The decision to exclude him stemmed from concerns that his impatience could hinder the operation.

“Aides kept the president out of the room as they got minute-by-minute updates because they believed his impatience wouldn’t be helpful,” the official explained. Trump was informed of significant developments via phone but was not present for the discussions.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt later asserted that Trump had “remained a steady leader our country needs,” emphasizing his commitment to preventing Iran from developing nuclear capabilities.

As the clock ticked, U.S. forces raced against time to locate the second airman before Iranian forces could do so. On April 4, Trump received word that the second pilot had been rescued, a feat attributed to CIA efforts that pinpointed the airman’s location.

“This was the ultimate ‘needle in a haystack,’ but in this case it was a brave American soul inside a mountain crevice,” a senior official remarked, highlighting the CIA's role in a deception campaign that misled Iranian forces about the airman’s status.

Later that night, Trump celebrated the successful mission on Truth Social, expressing relief and pride in the operation. “This brave Warrior was behind enemy lines in the treacherous mountains of Iran,” he wrote, detailing the perilous situation faced by the airman.

The following morning, Trump issued a fiery warning to Iran, demanding they “open the F***in’ Strait, you crazy b*******, or you’ll be living in Hell,” concluding with an unexpected “Praise be to Allah.”

On April 7, he escalated his rhetoric further, threatening that a “whole civilization will die tonight” unless Iran complied with his demands. When questioned about his provocative statements, Trump reportedly claimed he intended to use language that would unsettle Iranian leaders.

This rhetoric sparked global concern and prompted lawmakers to reach out to the White House regarding Trump’s mental state during this tumultuous period.
