Trump Releases Disturbing Footage of Shooting Incident at White House Correspondents' Dinner

President Trump took to Truth Social to unveil a video capturing a chaotic moment at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, where a man attempted to breach security. The footage, released just before an urgent press conference, depicts a figure sprinting past law enforcement stationed at the Washington Hilton.

Alongside the video, Trump shared an image of the suspect, who was found shirtless on the ground with his hands bound. “The man has been captured. They’ve gone to his apartment,” Trump stated, revealing that the individual is in his 30s and hails from California.

“He’s a sick person, a very sick person, and we don’t want things like this to happen,” Trump remarked, emphasizing the gravity of the situation. During the incident, one officer sustained a gunshot wound but fortunately was protected by a bulletproof vest.

“The vest did the job. I just spoke to the officer and he’s doing great, great shape,” Trump confirmed at the press briefing, providing reassurance about the officer's condition.

In an unexpected pivot, Trump leveraged the shooting to advocate for his vision of a new White House ballroom, asserting it would feature “drone proof” technology and “bulletproof glass.”

“That’s why the military are demanding it,” he explained. “They’ve wanted the ballroom for 150 years, for a lot of different reasons, but today is a little bit different, because we need levels of security that no one has probably ever seen before,” he added.

When pressed by a reporter about how he manages after facing multiple assassination attempts, Trump quipped that at least it hasn’t turned him into a “basket case.”
