Trump's Face Set to Dominate American Passports in Controversial Move

May 03 2026

Imagine flipping open your passport and staring into the face of Donald Trump. Sounds wild? It’s about to become a reality. The State Department is gearing up to slap Trump's visage onto American passports, a move that has never been seen before in the U.S. or anywhere else globally.

Democratic Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi didn’t hold back, calling the proposal “absurd.” He stated, “Putting Donald Trump’s face on U.S. passports is absurd. These documents represent the American people - not one man’s megalomania.”

Historically, no sitting president has graced the pages of a U.S. passport, and no international passport has ever featured a head of state. Instead, passports have traditionally included the signatures of issuing officials, with the Secretary of State’s name taking precedence over the president’s.

In a bold rebranding effort, Trump’s image from his second inaugural portrait will be plastered on the interior cover, layered over the Declaration of Independence, complete with his signature in gold. This redesign is part of a larger celebration for the 250th anniversary of American independence.

But that’s not all. The Treasury Department is also minting coins with Trump’s likeness, while the National Park Service plans to feature his face on park passes. Throughout his second term, Trump has relentlessly pushed to embed his name and image into government properties and official documents.

Future U.S. currency will bear his name, and federal buildings are already flaunting massive banners of his likeness. A new prescription drug website? You guessed it—TrumpRx.gov. And let’s not forget the “Trump class” battleships that are set to sail.

The rear cover of this new passport will revert to a more traditional patriotic theme, showcasing John Trumbull’s iconic painting of the Declaration of Independence. However, only 25,000 of these limited-edition Trump passports will be produced, pending approval.

The current passport design features Francis Scott Key witnessing the British bombardment of Fort McHenry in 1814, alongside lyrics from “The Star-Spangled Banner.” The back cover displays images of Earth, the moon, and Voyager spacecraft, paired with a powerful quote from activist Anna Julia Cooper: “The cause of freedom is not the cause of a race or a sect, a party or a class - it is the cause of humankind, the very birthright of humanity.”

While Mount Rushmore makes an appearance in the current design, it doesn’t feature individual portraits—just a reminder that history is often more complex than it seems.

Stay tuned for more updates as this story unfolds and see how Americans react to this unprecedented move!
