Trump's Meltdown Sparks Desperate Photo Scrub After Disastrous Rally Turnout
President Donald Trump erupted in fury over images showcasing a dismal turnout at his Great American State Fair kickoff speech, prompting White House staff to frantically erase the evidence from social media.
The president was “livid” after seeing an aerial shot of his rally, which NBC News later reported attracted “nowhere near” the 45,000 attendees he boasted about on Truth Social, according to CNN.
His explosive reaction forced aides to scrub photos of the sparse crowds from both official and personal social media accounts in a futile attempt to erase the embarrassing turnout.
Trump transformed the launch event for his Freedom 250 project into a self-congratulatory spectacle, coinciding with America’s 250th birthday. This came after artists scheduled to perform withdrew, misled into believing the event was organized by America 250, a bipartisan group celebrating the anniversary, which has been overshadowed by the MAGA-aligned Freedom 250 organization.
With only days left until Trump is set to headline a similarly MAGA-themed July 4 celebration on the National Mall, his aides are increasingly anxious. Heavy security measures, soaring temperatures, and a late start time threaten to result in another dismal turnout for what he has touted as a once-in-a-lifetime event marking the country’s semiquincentennial.
Weather forecasts predict triple-digit temperatures in Washington on Independence Day, turning the open-air National Mall into a sweltering environment with minimal shade for anyone daring enough to attend and witness the president — and the fireworks that follow.
Trump’s presence may further deter potential attendees. The political nature of the event, due to his involvement, is likely to alienate many local residents who might otherwise consider attending. Those who do brave the heat will face a Secret Service gauntlet that prohibits typical July 4 items like blankets, coolers, beverage containers, and any non-clear bags.
Additionally, Secret Service protocols require attendees to arrive hours before the program begins, leaving them with limited access to water or shade.
Compounding the situation, Trump is not scheduled to speak until 9:45 PM. This means attendees arriving in the afternoon could endure up to eight hours in the scorching Washington sun as temperatures soar above 100 degrees.
The president plans a 45-minute speech, but if history is any guide, he could extend it well beyond that, pushing the scheduled 10:30 PM fireworks display closer to midnight.
One White House official expressed frustration over the ill-timed schedule. “I do not understand why we are doing this so late,” they said. “I’m really not sure who thought this was a good idea.”
