Trump's Outrageous Claim: Stealing Iran's Oil Under Cover of Darkness

Jun 11 2026

President Donald Trump unleashed a jaw-dropping claim, asserting that the United States has been stealthily extracting vast quantities of crude oil from Iranian control nightly, all while inflation soars over four percent for the second month in a row—the highest spike in three years.

During a rambling Oval Office bill signing, Trump made this outrageous boast in response to Consumer Price Index data revealing a 4.2 percent year-on-year inflation rate in May, a direct consequence of the Iran war's impact on energy prices. Before the conflict erupted on February 28, inflation stood at 2.4 percent. Now, working Americans are feeling the pinch at gas stations, grocery stores, and across consumer goods.

In a bizarre twist, he declared, “I love it; the numbers were great — you know what I really love? I love the inflation.”

Trump insisted that inflation would drop “as soon as this war is over,” then teased reporters with a revelation: “Do you know we've been taking out millions of barrels of oil? Nobody knows it. You know who doesn't know about it? Iran, until right now.”

He boasted about a covert operation: “We took out the other night 22 ships late at night with no lights, because they don't have any radar, because we blasted the crap out of it. We took out this way,” echoing a scene reminiscent of “I drink your milkshake.”

He further claimed that inflation would “come down like a rock” due to the “millions of barrels” being funneled through the Strait of Hormuz “every night.”

“I wanted to say it so badly, but I didn't want to ruin it, but it was very hard, but millions of barrels of oil has come out. That's why it's at $85, $90 a barrel, instead of $250,” he stated.

Shortly after, he took to Truth Social to announce that he had “directed our Great U.S. Military to execute a secret mission to support Oil Tankers and other Commercial Ships through the Strait of Hormuz,” claiming this operation resulted in over 100 million barrels of oil reaching the open market.

“More than 200 Commercial Ships have safely traveled through the Strait. This wildly successful effort is because the UNITED STATES of AMERICA CONTROLS the Strait of Hormuz — NOT Iran,” he proclaimed.

“Their military is defeated, and their economy is lost. It’s over for Iran! Thank you for your attention to this matter,” he concluded.

Despite inflation spiking during the Biden administration due to post-Covid pandemic supply chain disruptions and high savings rates, it had been cooling before Trump took office. His sweeping tariffs quickly drove up costs across various goods.

Prices continue to surge as his Iran war escalates oil and gas expenses, with approximately 63 percent of Americans disapproving of Trump's economic management, according to a recent poll.
