Trump's Savage Attack on Kaitlan Collins: A Brutal Press Briefing Showdown

Jun 04 2026

Donald Trump, at 79, unleashed a brutal tirade against CNN journalist Kaitlan Collins during a White House press briefing, showcasing his disdain for the media.

In a shocking display, Trump criticized Collins, 34, after she questioned him about the scrapped $1.8 billion fund intended to support individuals he claimed were targeted by the government, including those involved in the January 6 Capitol incident.

Trump's frustration boiled over as he labeled the media "fake news," specifically targeting Collins and her network for allegedly "abusing" MAGA supporters.

He demanded that Collins "be quiet" while he continued his assault on the press, stating, "You should be ashamed of yourself. You used to be a conservative from Alabama." Collins shot back with confidence, saying simply, "I’m still from Alabama."

Online reactions exploded as viewers condemned Trump's treatment of Collins. One user on X (formerly Twitter) blasted, "How f-n rude.... Women with a voice who are smarter than him scare the s- -t out of him ... he’s an a--hole."

Another commentator urged journalists to confront Trump directly, saying, "He needs to be told to F--k Right Off, and if it’s on live television, all the better." A third user remarked, "Nothing scares Donald more than a smart, strong woman. The only response his weak and feeble mind can muster are incel-level insults."

Collins previously admitted to having to "bite her tongue" during her interviews with Trump. In an episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, she discussed the challenges of maintaining her composure while questioning the former president.

She revealed that keeping a poker face can be tough but emphasized her focus on the interviewee and their responses. "The closest I’ve come - I mean, I try to be myself, but I also want my interviews to be about the person I’m questioning and their answers," she explained.

Collins noted that sometimes she has to squeeze her pen hard to suppress laughter during their exchanges.

Trump has repeatedly accused CNN of "abusing" MAGA supporters, further fueling tensions between him and the network.

"So I try to keep the focus on them and the question at hand," Collins stated regarding her interview approach.
