Critics obliterated the Trump White House’s attempt at humor with its SpongeBob SquarePants Day post.

Nickelodeon celebrated #SpongeBobDay on X, prompting the White House to jump in with a manipulated image of SpongeBob from the Season 3 episode “One Krabs Trash.”

The White House’s version depicted the iconic sea sponge sporting the episode’s recognizable soda-drink hat, now adorned with Trump’s “MAGA” slogan.

Immediate backlash followed.

One user took it a step further, altering the image to display “Fuck MAGA” on the hat instead.

Another pointed out that SpongeBob is “a pretty tough character to turn into a MAGA mascot,” highlighting his traits of kindness, empathy, inclusion, environmental protection, and helping strangers.

Mockery ensued as users ridiculed the White House for watermarking an image derived from a Nickelodeon cartoon.
