Trump Shocks Nation by Placing Home Builder Nepo Baby with Zero Intel Experience in Top Intelligence Role
President Donald Trump has thrown a curveball by appointing Bill Pulte, a home builder heir with zero experience in the intelligence community, to one of the nation’s most critical intelligence positions. Pulte’s track record includes leveraging government power to target Trump’s critics, raising eyebrows across the political spectrum.
“I am appointing the Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, and Chairman of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac, William J. Pulte, to serve as Acting Director of National Intelligence,” Trump declared on his personal social media platform.
Virginia Democrat Mark Warner, vice chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, slammed the appointment, warning it would leave Americans “more vulnerable to a terrorist attack” due to Pulte’s glaring lack of qualifications.
Warner stated, “This president is not looking for an intelligence leader who will follow the facts or speak truth to power, but rather someone who will be willing to shape intelligence around the president’s wishes, regardless of the cost to the American people.”

Trump defended his choice by claiming Pulte’s current role—where he has sought criminal investigations for alleged mortgage fraud against Trump’s perceived enemies—provides him with the necessary background to oversee the DNI.
“William has deep experience managing the most sensitive matters in America, the safety and soundness of the Markets, and over 10 Trillion Dollars at Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac, a substantial increase from where it was just 12 months ago,” Trump wrote. “During this period, he will remain Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, and Chairman of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac. Congratulations to Director Pulte!”
The office of DNI was established post-September 11, 2001, to enhance coordination among various intelligence services. Trump’s first appointment in his second term was former Democratic congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, who also lacked specific intelligence experience but endorsed Trump during his campaign for a return to the White House after his 2020 election loss. Gabbard resigned her position last month.
Pulte, who is 38 years old, gained notoriety in Trump’s circle through frequent social media endorsements. He is the grandson of the founder of PulteGroup, a major residential home builder.
