Trump Takes Center Stage at Fiasco of a Celebration as Artists Flee
Donald Trump will headline the Great American State Fair after a slew of artists dropped out, citing political concerns tied to the president. He took to Truth Social, claiming artists are getting “the yips” about performing.
Trump boasted about his own potential performance, referring to himself as “the Greatest President in History (THE GOAT!), DONALD J. TRUMP,” while dismissing the departing acts as “highly paid, Third Rate ‘Artists’.”
In a follow-up post, he suggested scrapping the entire music lineup, proposing instead a “giant MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN RALLY” for the 250th anniversary celebration.

Freedom 250, the group organizing the June fair on Washington’s National Mall, confirmed Trump’s participation, stating he will kick off the event on June 24 with an opening ceremony.
Even Trump supporter Matt Walsh criticized the event’s direction, expressing frustration over the initial lineup that included “washed-up geriatric one-hit wonders.” He lamented that the celebration has devolved into a political rally rather than a true commemoration of America’s history.
Online reactions branded the event a “disaster” and a “complete failure.” Freedom 250 had previously announced a series of concerts from June 24 to July 10, but many artists canceled shortly after due to fears of the event's political nature.

Despite being labeled nonpartisan, Freedom 250 was launched by Trump and is led by a former State Department appointee from his administration. Notable acts like Morris Day and the Time, Young MC, the Commodores, Martina McBride, and Bret Michaels have all pulled out.
Martina McBride stated she was misled about the event's nonpartisan nature in her Instagram announcement. However, Fab Morvan of Milli Vanilli, Vanilla Ice, C+C Music Factory rapper Freedom Williams, and Flo Rida remain on the bill.
Vanilla Ice’s representatives expressed pride in participating in the celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary.
