Trump to Honor Four Fallen Heroes in Heart-Wrenching Ceremony

Jul 22 2026

President Donald Trump prepares to face one of the most gut-wrenching responsibilities of his role, as he welcomes home four U.S. service members who perished in combat. This ceremony marks the third time he has attended such an event since hostilities with Iran escalated in February.

Trump will be at Dover Air Force Base for a dignified transfer ceremony, where flag-draped transfer cases will arrive, carrying the remains of the fallen back to their grieving families. Among those returning are two U.S. Army soldiers who were killed in Iranian missile and drone strikes in Jordan, as confirmed by an anonymous administration official.

The remains of a third soldier, who vanished during the Jordan attacks and is now presumed dead, will also be included in this transfer, alongside a soldier who died in Iraq due to an Iranian drone explosion.

"I'll be going to Dover for something that I feel is — it's a great honor for me to do it," Trump stated from the Oval Office.

The Defense Department has identified the fallen as 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25; Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19; Sgt. Angel S. Rampersad, 28; and Sgt. Michael Emmanuel Swinton, 30. Feehan hailed from Ewa Beach, Hawaii; Gonzales from Carrollton, Texas; Rampersad from Ozone Park, New York; and Swinton from Spring Lake, North Carolina.

Trump remarked that these troops died while working to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear capabilities. "We feel very badly, but you know, those great people, those great patriots were out there fighting so that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon," he told reporters, asserting that U.S. strikes on Iran were executed "in honor" of the fallen.

Since the conflict erupted on February 28, 18 U.S. service members have lost their lives. The U.S. has conducted multiple retaliatory strikes as negotiations to halt the conflict have stalled. On Monday, Trump issued a stark warning: if Iran kills another American service member, "they will pay for that killing many times over!"

Trump also noted that while most incoming missiles and drones in Jordan were intercepted, some managed to breach U.S. defenses. "They did slip something through in Jordan," he said. "If we had other operators, you know, it would have not happened, unfortunately."

At Dover, military personnel will carefully carry each flag-draped transfer case from the aircraft before transporting them to the base mortuary for final preparations.

Feehan will receive a posthumous promotion to captain and be awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Combat Action Badge. Gonzales served with the 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command. Rampersad was part of the 57th Air Defense Artillery Regiment. Swinton will be posthumously promoted to staff sergeant and awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Combat Action Badge.
