Tucker Carlson Alleges Trump’s Justice Department is Targeting Him
Tucker Carlson, a prominent figure in right-wing media, has raised alarms about a potential criminal investigation by the Department of Justice under President Donald Trump. In a video posted on X, Carlson suggested that the CIA is “preparing some kind of criminal referral” against him, alleging it stems from a supposed crime related to his communications with individuals in Iran prior to the onset of conflict.
“The crime under consideration, apparently, would be the foreign agent act or something like that, acting as an agent of a foreign power,” Carlson stated, hinting at serious implications for his actions. This reference likely pertains to the Foreign Agents Registration Act, which mandates that certain foreign agents disclose their activities to the Justice Department.
Despite the gravity of his claims, Carlson did not present any evidence to substantiate his assertions. Requests for comments from both the Justice Department and the CIA have gone unanswered.
In a display of defiance, Carlson expressed minimal concern regarding the possibility of facing actual criminal charges. He emphasized that he is “not an agent of a foreign power” and has “never taken money from anybody.”
“It’s my job to talk to everybody all the time and try and figure out what's happening around the world. That's literally what I do for a living,” he asserted, reinforcing his stance on maintaining open communication. “I'm also an American. I can talk to anybody. I have no secrets to divulge,” he added, dismissing the legal implications as “ludicrous.”
Recently, Carlson has been vocal in his criticism of President Trump regarding military actions against Iran, labeling the campaign as “absolutely disgusting and evil” during an interview with ABC News’ Jonathan Karl shortly after hostilities began.

Trump responded to Carlson's remarks in a subsequent interview with Karl, stating, "Tucker has lost his way. I knew that a long time ago, and he's not MAGA." The former president emphasized that “MAGA is saving our country” and criticized Carlson’s understanding of the movement.
Carlson’s dissenting views on the war were not unexpected; reports indicate he voiced his opposition during three Oval Office meetings with Trump leading up to the military campaign that commenced on February 28.
His outspoken nature was evident during previous military actions against Iran in June 2025 when Trump declared that U.S. forces had “completely, totally obliterated” Iran’s nuclear capabilities through missile strikes. Around that time, Carlson gained attention for an interview with Senator Ted Cruz, where he challenged Cruz’s knowledge about Iran and its complexities.
