World Cup Player Obliterates Trump with Cold Shoulder on Live TV

Jul 20 2026

President Donald Trump stood ready to hand out medals at the World Cup final, but one player made it clear he wanted no part of the Commander-in-Chief.

Argentina’s Cristian Romero received his medal from FIFA President Gianni Infantino after Argentina's second-place finish, but he completely bypassed Trump in the receiving line.

Romero shook hands with Infantino, then ignored Trump entirely, moving straight past him.

In a bizarre twist, Romero also initially overlooked Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, who stood right after Trump. He did manage to shake hands with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney before finally turning back to acknowledge Sheinbaum, who is about 9 inches shorter than him.

But Trump? No handshake, no acknowledgment.

The intent behind Romero's actions remains murky. Was it a deliberate political statement or just a slip in the chaos of the moment after losing to Spain?

As Romero approached for his medal, Trump was slightly turned away, which could explain the oversight. Yet, he stands out as the only player to leave Trump hanging.

Trump faced another awkward moment shortly after: he presented the trophy to Spain and awkwardly lingered on stage with the players until Infantino returned to escort him off.
