‘You’re Absolutely Clueless’: Morning Joe Host Blasts GOP Over TSA Crisis
“Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough unleashed a scathing critique of Republican lawmakers for their failure to compensate Transportation Security Administration (TSA) employees during the ongoing funding standoff affecting the Department of Homeland Security.
On Thursday’s broadcast of his show, Scarborough directed his ire at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), previously overseen by Elon Musk, accusing it of severely undermining the federal workforce.
“DOGE was very intentional,” he asserted, “in dismantling the institutions that have safeguarded this nation and its citizens for decades.” His tirade gained momentum around the 7:45 mark of the episode.
He didn’t hold back when addressing Steve Bannon, former chief strategist in the Trump administration, recalling Bannon’s 2016 remarks about wanting to “tear this state to the ground.”
Shifting focus, Scarborough raised alarms about escalating tensions in Iran, linking them to domestic security issues. “This is what’s happening while we’re going to war in Iran,” he stated, highlighting the absurdity of long airport lines with minimal TSA presence amidst threats of terror attacks from Iran.
“These Americans are not too old or too dumb to forget what happened on 9/11,” he emphasized, “and they understand that Iran has promised to strike America.”
Scarborough’s frustration crescendoed as he admonished GOP lawmakers. “We are letting down our line of defenses when Republicans have a chance every day, every day, to get the TSA agents paid! Every day!” he shouted. “You’re so stupid! First of all, it’s dangerous. But politically, you’re so stupid. You’re so stupid to not force this through and pay our TSA agents.”
Currently, thousands of TSA employees are working without pay due to a partial government shutdown that began in mid-February, stemming from a funding deadlock over DHS.
This situation has left TSA agents struggling to meet basic needs and has resulted in longer security lines at airports, raising concerns among aviation experts regarding potential security vulnerabilities.

Last week, Senate Republicans once again blocked a proposal from Senate Democrats aimed at ensuring TSA workers receive their paychecks.
Scarborough continued his passionate plea for GOP lawmakers to act decisively to prevent potential tragedies. “Pay these people. OK? Because guess what? We all can go to the airport and come home. We’re fine, we’re fine … But TSA agents aren’t fine,” he insisted. “The people who actually have to get to Houston or have to get to San Diego, or have to get to Minneapolis for their work –”
“– or medical care,” co-host Mika Brzezinski interjected.
Scarborough further criticized Republican lawmakers for obstructing TSA workers and travelers from addressing critical personal matters, such as caring for ill family members. “They’re not OK because of you!” he exclaimed. “Because you keep voting no on an up or down vote on whether you pay TSA agents or not. And then you try to say it’s very complicated – No!”
In closing his fervent address, Scarborough urged Republicans to “please help yourself and save Americans.”
“It’s that simple. They say yes, and guess what? The TSA agents get paid, these lines go away, and our security against Iranian terror threats – poof!”
