Rue Bennett, played by Zendaya, faces a brutal conclusion in the Season 3 finale of Euphoria, which aired on HBO.
The finale, which many speculate marks the end of the acclaimed series, reveals Rue's fate after a season filled with perilous encounters and drug-fueled chaos.
Set five years after Season 2, Rue becomes embroiled in a dangerous criminal world dominated by rival drug dealers. Viewers held their breath, fearing for her survival as the season progressed.
In a shocking twist, Episode 8 unveils Rue's tragic fate, coinciding with revelations from Jacob Elordi about his character's unexpected demise.
The penultimate episode left Rue and Faye, played by Chloe Cherry, breaking into a safe linked to drug dealer Laurie. The finale kicks off with Rue on the run, pursued by Laurie's enforcers.
Throughout the season, Rue narrowly escapes death multiple times. In the final episode, she appears to overdose after taking pills from Alamo, showcasing Zendaya's powerful performance.
Colman Domingo's character, Ali, who serves as Rue's sponsor, hints at her predetermined fate in the second-to-last episode.
The season finale features a DEA raid dismantling Laurie's operation. Wayne and Faye escape on horseback while Laurie opts for a self-inflicted end rather than face capture.
Rue embarks on a desperate search for Fezco, portrayed by the late Angus Cloud, who has escaped prison and returned to her childhood home.
A surreal sequence unfolds as Rue imagines her mother reading the bible at the kitchen table. She reaches out, gasping for air, before waking up on the couch, still struggling to breathe.
The next morning, Ali finds Rue's lifeless body. After testing the pills, he discovers they were laced with fentanyl and seeks vengeance against Alamo and his crew.
The shocking conclusion left viewers in disbelief. Social media erupted with reactions like, "Nahhhh Rueeeee not like that" and "My god this Euphoria sequence on Ali's couch... I am weeping."
One heartbroken fan expressed, "Oh my heart is so broken... I always felt this would happen, but I was never ready," while another lamented, "sam levinson you will be paying for my therapy session tomorrow."
