Alabama Mother Charged with Murder After Toddler Suffocates Bound for 12 Hours
An Alabama mother stands charged with murder after her 2-year-old daughter was discovered bound hand and foot, left face-down on a bed for over 12 hours until she suffocated, according to police.
The victim, Madilynn Hadaway, was found dead in Lanett, Alabama, on June 12. Her mother, Sierra Shay Hadaway, aged 22, faces serious charges following the horrific incident.
Madilynn was reportedly found with her arms, legs, and ankles bound. Authorities believe she died from asphyxiation but have not disclosed further details regarding the circumstances of her death.

Two days after the toddler's death, a second suspect, Christian Myles Sturkie, fatally shot himself. His connection to the child remains unclear.
Despite the tragic event occurring on June 12, it took until this week for the sheriff's office to complete its investigation, leading to the arrest of Sierra Hadaway.
Sierra Hadaway's social media profile features a memorial for her daughter, stating “Madilynn Grace 09/22/2023-06/12/2026,” alongside the phrase “But GOD.”

An obituary for Madilynn described her as a “precious angel,” emphasizing that her time was far too brief. It highlighted how she filled lives with love and laughter, and her bright smile brought joy to everyone who knew her.
The obituary noted that Madilynn had a special way of bringing happiness to those around her and taught the purest meaning of love. It mentioned her enjoyment of playing with dolls and living freely in the yard.
Sierra Hadaway is currently held at the Chambers County Detention Facility without bond.
