AOC Rips Trump Over Lincoln Pool Disaster: D.C. Now an 'Actual Swamp'!

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez unleashed a brutal takedown of President Donald Trump’s disastrous $14 million renovations at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, declaring the site has been transformed into a “swamp.”

The New York Democrat didn’t hold back, slamming Trump for his lack of scientific understanding as the pool, once a symbol of American pride, turned a sickly green due to chemical reactions. “He doesn’t really understand the first thing about science,” she stated bluntly.

Ocasio-Cortez’s comments came during an interview with Meidas Touch, where she expressed no surprise over the humiliating outcome of the renovations. She directly linked the botched project to Trump’s cuts to science funding, stating, “When you defund science research, yeah, they talked a bunch of smack.”

Images flooding social media depict the Reflecting Pool choked with algae and the so-called American Flag Blue paint peeling away, revealing a grim reality beneath the surface.

Trump took to Truth Social to vent his outrage, labeling the situation as vandalism and threatening jail time for those he accused of sabotaging the renovations. “Of the MANY Statues and Fountains that we rebuilt...the only one that was Vandalized was the Reflecting Pool,” he raged.

He claimed that chemicals had been illegally dumped into the water and that a massive gash marred the pool’s surface. “Please remember that there is a 10 year prison sentence for the destruction...of such things — Which will be fully enforced!” he added.

However, experts like Tom Orefice from Mill Bergen Pool Center cast doubt on Trump’s claims of sabotage. Orefice explained that algae growth can stem from insufficient sanitizer levels, improper circulation, or malfunctioning filtration systems. “These are the main reasons why pool is green,” he clarified.

Trump’s narrative of vandalism began on Friday night when he alleged that federal authorities had made “multiple arrests” related to the Reflecting Pool’s condition but provided no evidence to support his claims.

“We’ve had some real problems with Vandalism at the beautiful Reflecting Pool,” he posted, later correcting his spelling of “Pool.” He insisted that serious crimes were being committed against national monuments.

In a subsequent post, Trump acknowledged that repairs would be necessary to restore the pool’s beauty, estimating costs could soar to $400 million. He mentioned meeting with contractors to discuss draining much of the water for repairs.

Among those arrested was David Hearn, 67, who claimed he merely touched the peeling coating while on a bike ride. Hearn described his encounter with law enforcement as he was detained for five hours before being released.

“I’m a curious citizen,” Hearn stated, defending his actions. “I reached down to see what it felt like.”

Despite Hearn’s claims, the presence of algae and loose paint raises questions about the true state of the Reflecting Pool. Trump continued to assert that something sinister was at play, suggesting chemicals were used to undermine his renovations.

His accusations echoed recent incidents on the National Mall where discolored grass bore numbers that authorities are investigating as potential threats against him. The chaos surrounding the Reflecting Pool renovation reflects deeper issues at play in D.C.
