Ariana Grande Sues Hackers for ‘Malicious’ Invasion of Privacy, Claims ‘Irreparable Harm’
Ariana Grande is going after hackers who allegedly pilfered unreleased music, photos, and videos from her collaborators. The lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on July 27 targets multiple individuals identified only as John Does.
Grande, 33, claims these hackers inflicted “irreparable harm” by illegally accessing “various personal digital accounts” belonging to photographers and producers associated with her career. The documents reveal that in 2023 alone, 45 unreleased songs were hacked and leaked.
Since her music debut in 2011, Grande has faced hundreds of similar breaches. Her legal team describes this “malicious” content breach as “unlawful and egregious theft, dissemination, and exploitation of unreleased content.”
The lawsuit accuses the hackers of using material “not intended for public consumption” to sell on the dark web for substantial profits. Grande’s lawyers aim to expose those profiting from the theft of her private data.
No comment was provided by Grande’s representatives when approached for a statement.

The most notorious leak occurred in 2021 when her track “Fantasize” surfaced on TikTok. This song, co-produced with Max Martin and Savan Kotecha, was meant for an unreleased comedy project.
Grande hinted at potential legal action during a 2023 appearance on The Zach Sang Show while discussing her collaboration with Martin, 55. She sarcastically remarked, “Before I left for Wicked, the few studio sessions I did, which are all over TikTok, thank you so much. I’ll see you in jail! Literally.”
She elaborated on the situation, stating, “So ‘Fantasize’ comes out — comes out? Crazy. It was stolen. Thieves, pirates, hooks. Illegal. I’ll give you more to get it back.”
Grande clarified that the song wasn’t originally hers, describing it as a parody of a ‘90s girl group vibe. She expressed disbelief at the reaction it received, saying, “I was like, A) all of you are absolutely hypocrites, and B), that’s crazy. It’s so corny.”
In a twist, she reworked elements of “Fantasize” into her track “The Boy Is Mine,” featured on her upcoming studio album Eternal Sunshine.
Currently, Grande is on her Eternal Sunshine Tour and has recently rekindled her romance with ex-boyfriend Ricky Alvarez after splitting from Wicked co-star Ethan Slater. She has hinted that this tour might be her last for a significant period once it concludes in London in September.
