Aubrey Plaza Takes a Shot at WNBA Stardom While Pregnant, Roasts Caitlin Clark

Jul 14 2026

Aubrey Plaza strolled into the Indiana Fever's practice, declaring, "I had a real shot at the WNBA. Everyone thought so, but then I tore my ACL. Twice." This actress, known for her role on "Parks and Recreation," has been a constant presence in the WNBA scene, from drafts to All-Star Weekends.

In a glorious three-minute video posted by NBC, Plaza made her entrance while lifting her shirt to reveal her pregnant belly, announcing she's expecting her first child with partner Christopher Abbott. "But the W has a new CBA," she quipped. "Yeah, they're doing a lot more for moms. I haven't read the whole thing, but I'm pretty sure I still qualify."

Plaza observed the Fever's practice during their road trip in New York City. She praised Fever All-Star guard Caitlin Clark's "unlimited range," jokingly suggesting it might be "just a cardio avoidance tactic." The banter escalated as Plaza challenged Clark to a 1-on-1 game.

The trash talk was relentless. After Clark launched one of her signature three-pointers, Plaza shouted, "Whoa, brick! Hey, you have any more bricks? I was trying to make a brick house for my [expletive] baby." Clark couldn't contain her laughter and eventually walked off the court, waving goodbye.

Meanwhile, Clark has been dealing with a lingering back issue this season and is currently on a minutes restriction. In the Fever's recent 109-75 victory over the Las Vegas Aces, she managed to post 12 points, seven rebounds, and six assists in just 24 minutes.

This season, Clark averages 20.1 points, 7.8 assists, and 4.2 rebounds across 19 games for the Fever, who hold a record of 14-9. She was voted as a starter for the upcoming 2026 WNBA All-Star Game, marking her third All-Star selection in as many seasons. The game is set for July 25 in Chicago, alongside fellow starters Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell.
