CNN Guests Go to War Over 'Grifter' Trump as Viewers Rip MAGA 'Apologist' Apart

CNN's panel erupted in chaos as guests squared off over the "grifter" label attached to President Donald Trump, igniting a fierce debate.

During a recent episode of CNN NewsNight, anchor Abby Phillip led a discussion featuring Scott Jennings, Bakari Sellers, Carla Sands, Xochitl Hinojosa, and Max Boot. The focus turned to the 79-year-old Commander-in-Chief's claims about an imminent deal with Iran.

Things escalated when Sellers asserted that the American public recognizes Trump as a grifter, triggering a heated exchange with Sands, a former U.S. Ambassador to Denmark, who countered by accusing Joe Biden of being "on the take from every major adversary." This comes amid renewed health concerns surrounding Trump.

Sellers launched into his argument, stating, "I think that the American public also see the grift that is Donald Trump and Donald Trump Inc. and the Trump family and Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr.—," only for Sands to interrupt, claiming he was diverting the topic.

"What I’m saying is that the American public, right now, we’re talking about Trump’s impeachment for his legacy," Sellers pressed on, but Sands interjected again, insisting, "You wanna talk about Biden and that grift? He was on the take from every major adversary."

Sellers shot back, "What? Let’s back up. Let’s just be extremely clear. The wealth of Donald Trump has grown exponentially. We haven’t seen anybody make this many trades—," while Sands insisted, "He’s a real businessman."

Sellers firmly declared, "No. He’s a grifter." Sands laughed dismissively, retorting, "Listen to you! He’s the president of the United States!"

Hinojosa chimed in, "He’s profiting off the presidency. Do you not see that?" Sellers added, "He’s made more stock trades than any president in the history of this country."

Sands defended Trump, stating, "He’s an unbelievable president. He’s working every day on behalf of the American people to make their lives better," prompting Sellers to question, "Has the president of the United States benefited or enriched himself by making stock trades—"

Sands replied, "I have no idea... I know the Senators do it, but I don’t know if the president does it. I haven’t followed that."

Phillip highlighted Trump's past comments urging reporters in the Oval Office to "go buy Dell," and mentioned his family's ventures in drones and cryptocurrency.

She warned that these issues are what Democrats will scrutinize "whether that looks like impeachment or not." Sellers emphasized, "It’s called accountability and oversight."

On social media, viewers unleashed their disdain for Sands. One user remarked, "That’s their default answer when they know they got nothing. 'I haven’t heard that, I’m unfamiliar with...' just unserious people. She should have been hooked off the set by her neck. These people, these LIARS have all got to go."

Another user criticized Sands directly: "Sands is paid to portray a MAGA face with teeth. I wonder how long before the lip injections begin," while a third user slammed her as a "Typical MAGA apologist. Ignore the fact."

A fourth viewer questioned, "Why even have her on the air if she’s going to lie and shill for Trump?" Another raged, "This sands person is the biggest MAGA idiot to ever be on that show. She is on her own planet with how stupid she is. Even Jeffrey Scott Jennings was looking at her like what the f--- are you talking about."

Someone else chimed in, "She’s clueless lmao where do they find these people I haven’t followed that lmao," while another echoed, "We don’t hate these gaslighting maga creeps enough."

However, one voice argued for balance: "While I do believe the news shows should be showing unbiased perspectives, all these shows are just performative now that the right-wing ownership has taken over. This is shameful and doesn’t give perspective; it gives B-movie vibes. Congrats these shows are all JOKES!"
