Democrats Demand Graham Platner's Exit Amid Sexual Assault Allegations
A bombshell report has ignited a firestorm, with Democrats demanding Graham Platner exit the Maine Senate race after allegations surfaced that he sexually assaulted a woman he dated in 2021.
The pressure is intensifying on Platner, who has denied the claims, to step aside and allow the party to nominate a new candidate ahead of the upcoming election. The deadline for the Democratic Party to replace him is Monday.
“It’s time for Graham Platner to drop out and allow for someone else to be nominated and give Democrats the best chance to win this seat in November,” stated Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.).
The Maine Democratic Party has publicly declared its support for survivors, emphasizing that their commitment to women does not waver based on political affiliation. “We respect the women who made the hard decision to come forward. Speaking up is often costly,” they asserted.
A growing roster of prominent Democrats and independents have voiced their concerns and called for Platner's resignation from the race.
