Disgraced Ex-Rep. George Santos Joins Fox Reality Show After Prison Stint
George Santos, a man with a history of deception, now adds reality TV contestant to his resume. This follows his stint as a congressman and a prison inmate.
In September, he will compete in the fifth season of Fox’s “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.” This brutal contest subjects participants to chemical gassing and military-style challenges in a Malaysian jungle, as announced by the network.
Santos boasted on X, “I took my fat behind off the coach and tried something new! And it changed EVERYTHING! I can’t wait to share this experience with y’all!” He accompanied this with a promotional image of himself looking stern next to a tree.
He faces off against over a dozen contestants, including former NBA player Matt Barnes and actor Ruby Rose, in what Fox calls the “ultimate test of physical, mental and emotional resilience.”
Elected to the House from New York in 2022 as a Republican, Santos served less than a year after his extensive fabrications about his life were exposed.
He was expelled from Congress amid criminal charges for stealing from donors and his campaign, fraudulently collecting unemployment benefits, and lying to Congress about his financial status.
After pleading guilty, he received a commutation from President Donald Trump following approximately 84 days in prison. He attempted to revive his political career with another House run but quickly abandoned it after failing to raise funds.
Last month, Kalshi, an online prediction marketplace, reported him to federal authorities after he claimed he would attend Trump’s State of the Union address but allegedly bet against his own attendance.
This incident led Polymarket, another prediction platform where he was an influencer, to terminate its paid relationship with him. Santos dismissed the allegations as “preposterous.”
He did not respond to requests for comment on Wednesday.
Challenges on Fox’s “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test” include claustrophobic searches of underground bunkers and retrieving supplies while suspended high above the jungle floor.
