Donald Trump is under fire for planning UFC Freedom 250 at the White House, an event that Mixed Martial Arts star Bryce Mitchell claims is "desecrating its role in society."
UFC Freedom 250, set for June 14 on the South Lawn, has stirred controversy since Trump proposed hosting a one-off card last year. The event features a main event with Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje, alongside a co-main event pitting Alex Pereira against Ciryl Gane.

Mitchell, who is preparing to face undefeated Santiago Luna at UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas, expressed his discontent with the spectacle at such a historic location. He stated, "I don’t remember ever saying that. I do want to be on the card. I do." His enthusiasm for the fighters on the card is clear, but his criticism of the government’s involvement is sharp.
"I ain’t jealous of any of those fighters. I’m so happy for those fighters," he said. "If they need me to fill in, if I’m healthy, hey, I’ll do it." However, he quickly pivoted to his concerns about the government’s priorities.
Mitchell, an economics major, believes the government should focus on protecting and serving the people rather than hosting sporting events. "Our government is desecrating its role in society by entertaining sports," he declared. "Our tax pounds and resources are funding this operation."

He continued, "The government should never be hosting sporting events because there’s more room for corruption, and we already have a corrupted government." His stance is clear: the government’s role should be minimal and focused on its core responsibilities.
UFC Freedom 250 is set to take place at The White House in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, June 14.
“The government is supposed to protect us, not entertain us,” Mitchell concluded.
