Laurie's demise in the Season 3 finale of Euphoria has sent shockwaves through the fanbase, with many expressing their disgust and disbelief. The character, played by Martha Kelly, took her own life as the DEA closed in on her drug operation.

In a harrowing turn of events, Laurie and Alamo plotted to smuggle narcotics across the Mexican border. Alamo's associate was supposed to transport drugs for Laurie, but betrayal lurked beneath the surface. As they arrived at a medical facility to retrieve hidden narcotics, chaos ensued.

While Alamo's worker was inside, he contacted Bishop to signal that the van was ready for a swap. Meanwhile, the DEA descended upon Laurie's ranch, trapping her and her crew.

As panic erupted among her workers, Laurie declared, "I can't go to jail," before she was seen on the rooftop moments later.

With authorities closing in, Laurie retreated to the top of the building, where she used a rope to hang herself. This shocking scene left viewers reeling, with many taking to social media to express their horror. One viewer lamented, "I need to pause and sit with that one a minute... I don’t remember seeing a warning for suicide SAM LEVINSON F--- YOU I feel sick to my stomach."

Another viewer exclaimed, "WHAT WAS THAT? WHAT WAS THAT LAURIE SCENE?"

A third added, "Never would I have thought that that sequence of events would’ve played out in the untimely demise of Laurie’s directors."

Laurie first appeared in Euphoria during Season 2, introduced as a former educator turned drug dealer who connected with Fezco to establish a new distribution deal.

Upon discovering her associate's transaction, Rue negotiated her own deal with Laurie, who agreed to provide Rue with a massive suitcase filled with narcotics. Rue's reckless use of the drugs spiraled into a chaotic debt-recovery storyline that carried into Season 3.

Martha Kelly was handpicked by Euphoria creator Sam Levinson for the role of Laurie. In a previous interview, she admitted her initial reservations about accepting the part.

She stated, "When I first read the scripts, I was heartbroken because I didn’t know if I could do it, and I really wanted to be on the show. But it’s difficult to want to play a character that hurts kids."

After joining the cast, she found comfort in the ensemble's support. She recalled, "Everyone was welcoming, and Zendaya was just very easygoing and lovely about my nervousness working with her and with some of the other folks on set."
