Explosive Revelations: Princess Diana and JFK Jr.’s Secretive Encounter Unveiled

Jun 10 2026

In a shocking twist, new revelations about Princess Diana and John F. Kennedy Jr.'s private meeting in 1995 at New York’s Carlyle hotel have surfaced, exposing a flirtatious undercurrent that electrified their encounter.

The attorney, Kennedy, sought to persuade the royal to grace the cover of his magazine, George. Diana’s private secretary, Patrick Jephson, described her as “quick-witted and fun to be with,” adding that the interaction had a “slight extra sparkle” due to Kennedy’s celebrity status.

Jephson noted that both Diana and Kennedy were filled with “anticipation” during their coffee meeting in her suite. The atmosphere was described as “a little bit cloak and dagger,” hinting at the secrecy surrounding their rendezvous.

Despite declining the offer to appear on the magazine's cover, Diana expressed interest in potentially featuring in the 50th or 100th issue of George. Jephson observed a “vulnerability” in Kennedy, who seemed to seek reassurance during their conversation.

“He was respectful to her,” Jephson stated. “She put him at his ease. They had a jolly social chat.” Their parting was amicable, leaving a warm impression on both sides.

Jephson speculated on two reasons for Diana’s decision to meet with Kennedy. One theory suggested that she admired him, wanting her son William to emulate Kennedy’s public persona. “I’m hoping he’ll grow up to be as smart about it as John Kennedy Jr.,” she reportedly told magazine editor Tina Brown.

Additionally, Jephson claimed that Diana aimed to provoke jealousy in her sister-in-law, Sarah Ferguson, by meeting America’s most eligible bachelor, who was a known pin-up for Ferguson at the time.

Caroline Hallemann recently detailed this secret meeting in her book, “The Kennedys and the Windsors.” She revealed that Kennedy arrived with several cover shoot ideas, including one featuring Diana in a three-corner hat reminiscent of the Revolutionary War.

Another concept depicted her in a limousine, attempting to evade photographers. Hallemann explained that Diana turned down the opportunity because she needed George magazine to succeed before she would publicly endorse it.

“Even with a Kennedy at the helm of the publication, that was hardly a guaranteed prospect,” Hallemann noted. However, Kennedy took the rejection in stride, reportedly telling his staff, “Well, she said no. But she had a great pair of legs.”

George magazine launched in 1995 and ceased publication in 2001. At the time of their meeting, Diana was still married to Prince Charles, having wed in 1981 and given birth to Prince William and Prince Harry before their divorce in 1996.

Just one year later, in 1997, Diana tragically died in a high-speed car crash in Paris. Meanwhile, Kennedy was dating Carolyn Bessette during their meeting, marrying her in 1996. Their relationship was notoriously tumultuous until their untimely deaths in 1999.

The plane Kennedy piloted crashed into the ocean off Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, that July, claiming the lives of Bessette and her sister, Lauren.
