Florida Mega Millions Winner Snags Jaw-Dropping $800 Million Jackpot — A Record-Breaking Stunner
A staggering $800 million Mega Millions jackpot just landed in Florida, marking the largest prize of 2026 and the tenth-largest in the game's entire history.
The winning numbers were 34, 48, 49, 59, 70, and the gold Mega Ball 12. The location of the ticket purchase remains undisclosed.
The winner has the option to take the full $800 million or a one-time pre-tax cash payout of $344.2 million. Opting for the lump sum means a mandatory federal withholding of 24%, slashing the take-home amount to approximately $261.6 million.
Two additional players also hit it big, winning the Match 5 prize by correctly selecting all five white ball numbers. A ticket worth $3 million was sold at Corner Market in Buffalo, NY, while another ticket in Illinois fetched $5 million.

This $800 million prize surpasses the previous record of $656 million shared by three winners from Illinois, Kansas, and Maryland back in March 2012. It’s the third time this year that the grand prize has been claimed, breaking a 38-drawing drought.
The last Mega Millions jackpot win occurred on March 17, when The Happy Trails Trust took home a $60 million prize in Van Wert, Ohio. Just a week prior, an anonymous player in Illinois won a grand prize of $536 million on March 10.
Both winners opted for cash payouts, netting $27.1 million and $245.6 million respectively. Florida has now secured six Mega Millions grand prizes, with its most recent win occurring in August 2023.
The August 8 drawing set a record with Saltines Holdings, LLC claiming a jaw-dropping $1.62 billion jackpot in Neptune Beach, Florida. A second ticket from August 15 matched numbers for a $39 million pot but went unclaimed.
For those who missed out on Tuesday's massive jackpot, Powerball offers another chance with an estimated drawing of $663 million on Wednesday night.
