Graveyard Predator Strikes: Woman Assaulted, Escapes Thanks to Kids

Police are on the hunt for a man who allegedly assaulted a woman near a graveyard in Dortmund.

A computer-generated image has been released as investigators seek information about the suspect following the attack on a 23-year-old woman at Scharnhorst Cemetery.

The victim became aware of a man stalking her on April 17. In a desperate attempt to escape, she fled into a nearby field, hoping to hide from her pursuer.

However, the man followed her into the field and sexually assaulted her. The attack reportedly ended when he heard the voices of six or seven children nearby, prompting him to flee the scene.

These children, aged between 10 and 11, came to the woman's aid and helped alert authorities about the incident.

As she tried to escape, the woman ran toward a rapeseed field, where she attempted to conceal herself. Despite her efforts, the man caught up with her and assaulted her.

Once the children’s voices were heard, the assailant abandoned his attack and ran away. The group of kids later assisted the woman, who required medical treatment for her injuries.

No arrests have been made yet, and the investigation is ongoing. Detectives are relying on the public's help to identify the suspect through the composite image released.

The suspect is described as approximately 5ft 11in tall with dark blond hair, "bright eyes," "bushy eyebrows," and a "distinctive bump on his nose." He was wearing a black jacket and jeans during the incident.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. A spokesperson stated, "The victim was walking through Scharnhorst cemetery when she noticed an unknown male suspect approaching her."

"Out of fear, the victim quickened her pace to hide from the man in an adjacent rapeseed field. However, the man followed her, and despite her massive resistance, a sexual assault occurred."

"When the voices of an approaching group of children could be heard, the unknown suspect let go of the victim and fled."

Police are asking for assistance in identifying the suspect depicted in the composite sketch.
