Kamala Harris Contemplates 2028 Presidential Run: "I'm Considering It"

Apr 11 2026

At a recent event in New York, former Vice President Kamala Harris revealed her thoughts on a possible presidential run in 2028, stating, "Listen, I might. I'm thinking about it." This comment came during a discussion with Rev. Al Sharpton at the National Action Network's conference held in Manhattan.

Reflecting on her experience, Harris noted, "I served for four years being a heartbeat away from the presidency of the United States. I spent countless hours in my West Wing office, footsteps away from the Oval Office. I spent countless hours in the Oval Office, in the Situation Room. I know what the job is. And I know what it requires." Her words underscore her familiarity with the demands of the highest office.

Harris emphasized her recent travels across the country, particularly in the South, where she has engaged with various communities. "The status quo is not working, and hasn't been working for a lot of people for a long time," she asserted, indicating her awareness of the challenges facing many Americans.

In the 2024 election, Harris faced President Trump after stepping in for then-President Joe Biden at the top of the Democratic ticket. Prior to that, she had sought the Democratic nomination in 2020 but ultimately became Biden's running mate.

Since her defeat in 2024, Harris has maintained a lower profile. She notably declined to run for governor of California last year, which has led to speculation regarding her intentions for another presidential bid in 2028.

As discussions about her potential candidacy continue, Harris's experience and insights into the political landscape may play a significant role in shaping her decision moving forward.
