Karoline Leavitt's Clumsy Communist Rant Sparks Viewer Backlash

Jul 04 2026

Karoline Leavitt's attempt to link the Democratic Party to communism fell flat, igniting a firestorm of criticism from Fox News viewers.

During her appearance on Jesse Watters Primetime, Leavitt, the White House Press Secretary, fumbled through her lengthy diatribe, leaving viewers frustrated and bewildered.

She aimed to paint the Democratic Party as a communist entity, but her delivery was riddled with errors. Stammering and losing her train of thought, Leavitt struggled to maintain coherence, especially after being mocked for promoting the Great American State Fair.

Leavitt kicked off her speech with, "This is not your grandaddy's Democrat party," only to falter with "This is not uh uh," before regaining some semblance of control. She declared, "This is not the Democratic Party of JFK."

Her rhetoric escalated as she proclaimed, "This is a full-blown communist revolution that is taking over Capitol Hill right here in Washington, D.C. The inmates are running the asylum." She attempted to articulate the "three P's" — "Prison, police, uhh," but stumbled again, repeating, "Prison, police, and private property."

Leavitt concluded with a claim that these ideals founded the nation, but viewers were already tuning out.

Social media erupted with ridicule. One commenter noted, "You can smell and feel the fear in Karoline Leavitt's voice. She is struggling." Another added, "Should have just stayed at home with your kid. You embarrassed yourself with whatever that was."

A third user bluntly stated, "It's amazing that she can survive crossing the street. She's so stupid."

Before her on-air blunder, Leavitt shared a personal update on Instagram, revealing her gradual return to public life after giving birth to her daughter, Viviana "Vivi" Riccio in May.

Just eight weeks post-delivery, she traveled with President Trump. Leavitt and her husband, Nicholas Riccio, 61, also have a son named Nicholas "Niko" Riccio who is nearly two years old.

She expressed her mixed emotions about being away from her newborn: "On the road today with President Trump for the inaugural flight of the new Air Force One! This will be the longest I have been away from her by far," she wrote, accompanied by a crying emoji.

Trump was en route to North Dakota for Fourth of July celebrations linked to the opening of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library. Leavitt indicated she would accompany him as she navigates her return to work following maternity leave.
