Lawrence O'Donnell Rips Trump as 'Dumbest Litigant Ever' Over Failed IRS Lawsuit

Lawrence O'Donnell unleashed a brutal takedown of President Donald Trump, labeling him “the stupidest litigant in history to ever sue himself” after a federal judge deemed his $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS “improper.”

Trump's legal saga began in January when he filed suit against the Internal Revenue Service, claiming damages after a contractor leaked his tax returns. In a desperate twist, he sought to dismiss the suit in exchange for a $1.8 billion fund aimed at compensating individuals he claimed were unfairly targeted by the Department of Justice.

U.S. District Court Judge Kathleen Williams delivered a scathing rebuke, dismantling Trump's case over 56 pages. O'Donnell highlighted a pivotal moment in the ruling, where Williams waited until page 43 to reveal the damning evidence against Trump, calling it “exquisite work as a dramatist.”

In a clip played by O'Donnell, Trump admitted in October, “I’m sort of suing myself, I don’t know,” which Williams cited as proof that the lawsuit was filed for an “improper purpose.” She even recommended sanctions against Trump's legal team.

O'Donnell pointed out that Trump not only acknowledged suing himself but did so after the statute of limitations had expired. Williams utilized Trump's own allies' Supreme Court cases to further dismantle his arguments.

“Williams carefully grounded her findings in Supreme Court cases written by Donald Trump’s allies on the Supreme Court,” O'Donnell stated, emphasizing that every executive branch member operates under the president's control.

The proposed “Anti-Weaponization Fund” was intended to finance claims from Trump supporters, including those involved in the January 6 Capitol riot and others who alleged victimization by the DOJ under President Joe Biden.

Judge Williams asserted, “Judges have a responsibility to ensure the courts remain open to all to pursue claims in good faith,” while also stressing the importance of preventing abuse of the court system for improper purposes.

She directly referenced Trump’s own words, stating, “Certainly, a court should not be a forum for a party that cynically views a lawsuit as a vehicle to achieve a predetermined outcome: ‘I’m suing myself.’”

O'Donnell's monologue underscored Trump's blatant attempts to enrich himself, declaring, “The judge can see what everyone in America can see when the Trump Cabinet is gathered on TV to publicly worship him.”

He concluded with a sharp critique: “Every member of the Trump Cabinet was chosen for their flawless cowardice.”
