Margo Martin Muscles In on Trump’s Inner Circle, Threatening Karoline Leavitt’s Position

Jul 19 2026

Margo Martin has surged into the spotlight, raising questions about her proximity to Donald Trump and whether she’s edging out Karoline Leavitt in the MAGA hierarchy.

Martin, the president's communications advisor, has stirred controversy as she seemingly takes the lead in Trump's inner circle. The 30-year-old has ignited fierce discussions online, particularly due to her provocative social media posts that have drawn backlash against the 80-year-old president.

Her recent activity on X resulted in Trump being assigned a harsh new nickname, showcasing the impact of her words. PR specialist Lynn Carratt noted that Martin's visibility has skyrocketed, suggesting she could be on the verge of securing a senior role with Trump. Carratt stated, "It's hard to deny the fascination with Margo Martin recently."

In an exclusive commentary, Carratt highlighted Martin's transformation from a low-profile figure to a prominent presence in Trump's world. She noted, "Whether accompanying him during major international appearances or standing close by at high-profile public events, her presence has become increasingly noticeable. And in Trump-world, visibility is never accidental."

This shift has sparked speculation about Leavitt's standing. However, Carratt believes the situation is more complex than a simple rivalry. She explained that Martin and Leavitt serve distinct roles around Trump, with Leavitt being "very much the public political fighter."

According to Carratt, Leavitt excels in front of cameras, effectively pushing the administration's messaging and engaging directly with Trump's base. Trump values her ability to dominate headlines and navigate hostile media environments.

In contrast, Carratt described Martin's influence as "quieter," yet potentially powerful in a different manner. She elaborated, "She increasingly appears to be part of the trusted inner operation around Trump himself, managing optics, atmosphere, access, and personal communications. Historically, those figures become hugely influential behind closed doors."

As speculation mounts about Martin potentially replacing Leavitt, Carratt emphasized that both can coexist within Trump's circle. "What people often misunderstand about Trump is that he doesn’t necessarily operate with traditional White House structures. He tends to build overlapping circles of influence around himself," she explained.

Carratt added that this isn't about Leavitt being "replaced," but rather Trump expanding his circle of trusted individuals as political stakes rise and scrutiny intensifies.

PR professional Rebecca Barnatt-Smith echoed these sentiments, stating that while Leavitt's position as White House Press Secretary seems secure for now, Trump's admiration for Martin suggests she may take on a more significant role in the future.

Barnatt-Smith pointed out that Trump has previously called Martin the "world's most beautiful photographer," indicating his favorable view of her. As Leavitt is currently on maternity leave, Martin has been given more responsibilities, including joining Trump on his state visit to China and assisting during his Memorial Day trip to Arlington National Cemetery.

Trump has a history of keeping his closest allies near him. If Martin's relationship with Trump continues to strengthen, it’s likely her role within the administration will expand further.
