“Megyn Kelly, you might want to have a chat with your team.”
On Wednesday night, Kelly took to social media, expressing her dismay over a Fox News graphic that combined the American and Israeli flags. “Holy shit is this real?” she exclaimed in a quote-tweet, labeling the image as “absolutely disgusting.” When a user pointed out the current alliance between the U.S. and Israel, questioning her outrage, Kelly retorted, “You don’t put another country’s flag on the USA flag, ever. We don’t share it. We treat the flag as inviolate. It’s extremely inappropriate.”
However, a Community Note attached to her tweet revealed a striking contradiction: “Megyn Kelly’s show used a circular graphic blending the US flag with Iran’s on her March 3 ‘AM Update’ episode titled ‘America’s Iran War Planning,’ similar to the one she criticized on Fox.”
Instead of merging the American flag with that of an ally, Kelly had previously done so with an adversary known for its violent history against the U.S.
The internet quickly reacted. “Holy shit are you this dumb and malicious?” questioned commentator James Lindsay.
Cornell Law Professor William Jacobson remarked, “She’s going full Groyper – Jew-baiting sleaze because of a chyron Fox News created about the U.S. and Israel working together that included both flags. Your true colors have come out and they are very ugly.”
Jim Hanson from The Middle East Forum added, “You mean showing the flags of two allies fighting together against a common enemy of mankind? Yes, less common to merge ours with the enemy but you could do that…and did.”
Harry Khachatrian from The Washington Examiner humorously noted, “*Robert Downey Jr voice* ‘You went full groyper Megyn. Everyone knows you never go full groyper.’”
But the criticism didn’t stop there:
“@megynkelly has to be the dumbest woman in media,” tweeted Laura Loomer. “Here she is expressing faux outrage over a Fox News graphic blending an American flag and an Israeli flag. She said ‘holy shit is this real?’”
“Two weeks ago, Megyn Kelly blended the American flag with the flag of the Islamic…”
As the conversation continues, many are left questioning the consistency of Kelly's stance on such sensitive topics.
