High-ranking White House Officials Oppose Trump's Military Actions Against Iran, Claims Former Ally
Former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene disclosed on Monday that she has engaged with senior officials in the White House who, according to her, are not in favor of Donald Trump’s military actions against Iran.
This assertion comes as Greene, once a staunch supporter of Trump, has voiced strong criticism regarding his decision to initiate military strikes in Iran. Identified with the GOP's isolationist faction, Greene has consistently opposed U.S. involvement in foreign conflicts, including the ongoing war in Ukraine.
During an appearance on The Situation Room, Greene articulated a growing generational divide within Trump’s MAGA base. She noted that younger voters and Gen X Republicans perceive the conflict as primarily serving Israel's interests.
“Many older Americans from the baby boomer generation who watch Fox News are deeply convinced by its narratives, having spent decades believing that engaging in these wars is justified. In contrast, younger generations—myself included as a Gen Xer—along with millennials and Gen Z, are largely against this war,” Greene explained. “It’s a matter of generational perspective.”

She emphasized that younger Americans prioritize their financial stability and oppose the allocation of taxpayer dollars to foreign conflicts. “Younger generations want to be able to afford their American lives, and they don’t want their taxpayer dollars shipped off [overseas],” she added.
Greene criticized Trump for straying from his “America First” agenda, recalling a rift that began last summer over the release of Jeffrey Epstein's files by the Department of Justice. She accused Trump of distorting the MAGA brand into something unrecognizable. “This is absolutely absurd, and it’s 100% a betrayal to what MAGA was supposed to be when we voted in 2024,” Greene stated. “It’s turned into some perverted, deranged version of MAGA now that nobody wants.”
When asked about Vice President JD Vance's reported opposition to Trump’s military operations in Iran, Greene refrained from discussing her private conversations but confirmed that there is dissent among high-ranking officials in the administration regarding the war.
“I won’t speak for anyone, but there are people in the administration, high up in the administration, I know that don’t support this,” she remarked. “But the longer they stay silent, it hurts them. It definitely hurts them in the future,” she told CNN.

The ongoing conflict between the U.S. and Iran has reportedly resulted in over 1,300 deaths in Iran and 13 U.S. service members killed. Trump claimed during a recent interview that Iran is seeking an agreement to end hostilities, a statement contradicted by Iran’s foreign minister who denied any intention to cease fighting.
Additionally, Iranian forces have been active in restricting commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial route for global oil supply. Oil prices have surged past $100 per barrel, with average gasoline prices in the U.S. rising by more than 70 cents per gallon, according to AAA.
Members of the isolationist wing within Trump’s MAGA base had previously applauded his denunciations of “endless war” during his 2024 presidential campaign. However, the current administration faces scrutiny as Trump shows little inclination to pursue an exit strategy that many Republicans in Congress—and according to Greene, within the White House—desire.
Polling indicates that over half of Americans oppose the war with Iran, while approximately 40% support it. On Capitol Hill, Democrats have criticized the war's terms, while some Republicans have viewed the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, as a beneficial development for regional stability.

Greene's criticisms of Trump's military strategies surfaced last year as he intensified operations targeting small boats in the Caribbean linked to drug trafficking. This campaign escalated and culminated in a U.S. raid that led to the abduction of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro for prosecution on drug charges.
Greene and other prominent figures within the broader MAGA community have increasingly voiced their opposition to Trump’s military actions against Venezuela and his support for Israel amid two military campaigns against Iran during his second term. They accuse him of deviating from his campaign promises to prioritize domestic issues over foreign engagements.
