At a recent rally, President Donald Trump, 79, doubled down on his love for the Village People’s “Y.M.C.A.,” dubbing it the “gay national anthem.”
“When you’re leaving and they have that song. The gay national anthem,” he declared, claiming it’s the secret sauce behind his LGBTQ+ support. “That’s why I did so well with the gay vote...I did great with the gay vote, better than any other Republicans by far.”

But behind the scenes, First Lady Melania Trump has had enough of her husband’s public antics. “Darling, darling don’t dance. It’s not presidential,” she reportedly told him, adding a list of no-nos that included weightlifting and swimming. This comes after she was caught giving him a panicked look during a recent celebration.
Despite Melania’s pleas, Trump cranked up the volume on “Y.M.C.A.” at the rally, launching into his signature moves that have become a spectacle in their own right.

Social media erupted with reactions as footage of Trump’s dancing hit the internet. “Looks like he is drying off with a towel,” one user quipped on X. Another joked, “Dude is just having an end-of-life crisis and wants a ballroom to dance to the Village People and pretend it’s 1979.”
Critics didn’t hold back either. “It’s the jerk-off dance. Trump’s signature move,” one commenter said, while another added, “Trump is the worst human being I know of, but telling the DJ to turn up ‘YMCA’ so you can dance is the least worst thing he’s ever done.”

Even Melania has previously expressed her disapproval of Trump’s fist-pumping routine, comparing him unfavorably to FDR, who famously wouldn’t dance. Yet here he is, swaying his hips and pumping fists to a song that has become synonymous with his campaign.
This isn’t the first time Trump has ignored Melania’s advice; he performed his trademark routine at the White House Congressional Picnic just weeks ago. The couple's dynamic continues to play out in public, with Melania clearly wishing her husband would tone it down.
As Trump continues to embrace his quirky campaign style, one thing is clear: Melania's demands may fall on deaf ears as he dances his way through 2024.
