Nicki Minaj's Absence from Freedom 250: MAGA Support Costs Her Big

Jun 05 2026

Nicki Minaj's MAGA allegiance is reportedly costing her, as she sits out the Freedom 250 event in Washington, DC. The festival, part of a Trump initiative to celebrate America's 250th birthday, runs from June 25 to July 10.

The lineup was announced on May 27, featuring acts like Martina McBride, C+C Music Factory, Vanilla Ice, and others. However, several artists, including Morris Day and The Time, Young MC, and Milli Vanilli, have since pulled out.

US Representative Maxwell Frost (D-FL) weighed in on Minaj's absence, suggesting her support for Trump is "hurting" her financially. He stated that more than half of her fanbase has turned against her due to her alignment with "hate and bigotry."

Frost expressed confusion over why Minaj hasn't stepped up to headline the event, stating that she "should be headlining the show." He dismissed the idea of her participating, saying the event shouldn't happen at all.

Minaj has been a vocal Trump supporter since late 2025, attending and speaking at events aligned with his administration. Frost speculated that her financial struggles might stem from her political stance.

He pointed out that artists withdrawing from the Great American State Fair likely did so because they were unaware of its political ties to Trump. Frost's experience at Coachella informs his belief that transparency is crucial when booking artists.

He emphasized that if organizers had been upfront about the event's nature, many artists would not have backed out upon realizing it was a Trump-centric affair.

Frost's comments reflect a growing concern among performers regarding political affiliations in events they participate in. The fallout from this festival could signal a shift in how artists align themselves with political figures.

“More than half of her fans are not rocking with her anymore because she’s chosen to stand on the side of hate and bigotry,” Frost stated.

Minaj's absence raises questions about the impact of political support on an artist's career and financial viability.

Frost's insights reveal a deeper issue within the music industry regarding political affiliations and their consequences for artists.

“It’s curious to why she isn’t doing it,” he concluded.
