Oops! Trump Just Criticized Himself, Sparking Hilarity Among Critics
During a Las Vegas event on Thursday, President Donald Trump aimed a jab at his predecessor, but the blowback landed squarely on himself.
“A year ago, our country was an embarrassment,” Trump stated, adding that “all over the world, they laughed at us.”
However, a glaring inconsistency arises: April 2025, the time he referenced, was under his own administration.
Trump further claimed that “those people around the world don’t laugh anymore,” a statement that may not hold water.
Footage from last autumn captured European leaders chuckling over Trump’s repeated mix-ups between Albania and Armenia—an error he made multiple times during his previous term.
California Governor Gavin Newsom also weighed in last summer, noting that foreign leaders have been laughing at Trump. “I’ve had the privilege of meeting a lot of foreign leaders,” he remarked at a Politico event. “They’re laughing behind his back.”
Social media erupted with reactions to Trump’s latest comments, with users pointing out the implications of his apparent forgetfulness regarding his own presidency. One user quipped, “The president not being aware he was in office a year ago seems like a gigantic red flag for mental decline but I'm not a major political reporter like @jaketapper so what would I know?”
