Princess Diana Labeled Trump a 'Creep' Amidst His 'Trophy Wife' Pursuit

Jul 05 2026

Donald Trump, long before his political career, aggressively pursued Princess Diana after her split from Prince Charles, with reports indicating he viewed her as a potential 'trophy wife.'

In 2015, TV presenter Selina Scott revealed that Trump bombarded Diana with roses and orchids, which piled up in her apartment. Scott claimed that Diana ultimately dismissed him as “a creep,” expressing growing concern over his relentless advances.

Trump's ties to the British royal family date back well before his presidency. Following Diana's separation from Prince Charles in 1992, he reportedly sought her out, believing he had a chance at romance. Allegations suggest that his pursuit felt increasingly like stalking to Diana.

When Diana tragically died in a car accident in Paris in 1997, Trump allegedly told friends that his biggest regret was never dating her. He believed he had a legitimate shot with her.

In a 2016 interview with Piers Morgan, Trump claimed he “respected” Diana but had “no interest” in pursuing her romantically. He stated, “But I did meet her once, and she was lovely.”

Trump's first official visit to the UK occurred in 2018, where he met Queen Elizabeth II privately. He returned for a banquet at Buckingham Palace in 2019, mingling with royals during a tour of the UK, Ireland, and France.

During his 2019 UK visit, Trump described his relationship with the late Queen as excellent, calling her a “great, great woman.” He claimed her staff informed him she hadn’t enjoyed herself that much in twenty-five years.

Trump stated, “I have such a great relationship [with the Queen], and we were laughing and having fun. And her people said she hasn’t had so much fun in 25 years.”

In April 2026, Trump and his third wife Melania met with members of the royal family in Washington DC. Despite his warm relationship with Queen Elizabeth, not all royals shared the same sentiment towards him.

Trump’s pursuit of Diana and the subsequent fallout highlights the complex dynamics between celebrity and royalty during that era.

“She became increasingly concerned about what she should do,” Scott wrote about Diana’s feelings towards Trump’s advances.

Trump’s history with the royals remains a topic of intrigue, especially considering his controversial past and public persona.
