Rep. Tim Burchett Shares Odd Rabbit Tale When Asked About Bad Bunny's Super Bowl Performance
In a moment that caught many off guard, Congressman Tim Burchett shared an unexpected tale about his pet rabbit while discussing Super Bowl halftime performer Bad Bunny. “Dude, I wouldn't know if Bad Bunny walked up here and asked me if he could borrow my cell phone,” the Tennessee representative remarked to a reporter in Washington, revealing his unfamiliarity with the artist.
Burchett then launched into a story about his Flemish giant rabbit, Flop, and another rabbit named Caramel. “Put ‘em together, phew, it’s true what they say about rabbits,” he recounted, adding a humorous twist when his nephew questioned the scene. “My nephew was like, ‘Uncle Tim, what’s Flop doing to Caramel?’ And I [said], ‘Go back in the house, dude. It’s not my job to give the sex talk here.’”
With a chuckle, he concluded the story with a twist of fate: “And then about a week later, Flop died of a heart attack, so what do you know? I guess he died doing what he loved.” The video of this exchange quickly circulated online, drawing reactions ranging from laughter to mild concern.

“Some of y’all ain’t ever been around old southern men and it shows,” commented Twitch streamer Jordan Powell on social media. “Felt like I was listening to an uncle.” Meanwhile, writer Brandon Streussnig humorously noted the public antics of government officials, suggesting that many seem to be “sundowning in public.”
While Burchett’s quirky remarks provided comic relief, they contrasted sharply with the outrage expressed by some of his MAGA colleagues regarding Bad Bunny's Super Bowl appearance. The Puerto Rican artist, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, primarily performs in Spanish and has been vocal against the Trump administration's immigration policies.
During a recent acceptance speech at the Grammys, Ocasio praised immigrants pursuing their dreams and condemned mass ICE raids. “Hate gets more powerful with more hate,” he stated. “The only thing that's more powerful than hate is love. So please, we need to be different.”

Following an ICE raid in Puerto Rico last year, Bad Bunny did not hold back his feelings towards immigration agents, labeling them with expletives. In response to Ocasio's selection for the halftime show, conservatives expressed their discontent, with President Trump calling it “crazy” and “ridiculous.”
Adding fuel to the fire, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem threatened to station ICE agents outside the Super Bowl venue. Bad Bunny has previously joked about the backlash, suggesting viewers learn Spanish before his performance on Saturday Night Live.
In a related note, Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong also plans to perform during the Super Bowl and took a stand against ICE agents during a concert. “This goes out to all the ICE agents, wherever you are,” he urged. “Quit your s***ty ass job. Because when this is over... they’re gonna drop you like a bad f***ing habit.”
