Right-Wing Trolls Get Wrecked Over 'Sesame Street' Pride Month Post

Conservatives unleashed a torrent of vitriol over a “Sesame Street” post celebrating Pride Month, accusing the beloved children’s show of grooming kids. The official “Sesame Street” account on X declared, “Happy #PrideMonth from Sesame Street! Join us in celebrating and uplifting the LGBTQIA+ members of our community.”

The backlash was immediate. MAGA-aligned figures flooded the comments, claiming the show was sexualizing children. One user raged, “This is literally a show meant for young children.”

Another chimed in, “There’s no scenario where Elmo telling kids to follow their sexual desires isn’t strategic grooming from activist cosplaying as educators. Gross.”

These accusations are not new; they echo decades of attempts to demonize the LGBTQ+ community. A 2022 report from the Human Rights Campaign highlighted a staggering 406% increase in tweets using slurs like ‘groomer’ and ‘pedophile’ aimed at LGBTQ+ individuals following the passage of Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” law.
