Rogan's Silence on Hokit’s Insult to Michelle Obama Sparks Outrage, White Urged to Act

Joe Rogan stood mute as UFC heavyweight Josh Hokit hurled a vile insult at Michelle Obama during UFC Freedom 250, igniting a firestorm of criticism.

The event, touted as a monumental night in UFC history, featured seven fights but quickly devolved into controversy after Hokit’s post-fight interview overshadowed the action.

Hokit delivered a TKO victory over Derrick Lewis on the White House South Lawn, where thousands of fans gathered under a massive 92-foot lighting structure dubbed The Claw. Both Trump and Dana White hailed the event as historic, yet White later declared that the UFC would never return to the White House.

During the live interview with Rogan, Hokit shouted, “Michelle Obama is a man! Am I right, America?” This statement echoed comments he made after a previous fight in May 2025.

Rogan’s failure to respond drew ire from critics who demanded he challenge such blatant disrespect. Journalist Jemele Hill slammed Rogan’s silence, stating, “Oh that was nice. Josh Hokit ended his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan by calling Michelle Obama a man. Nothing says let’s celebrate America quite like that.”

Hill didn’t hold back, criticizing both Rogan and White for their lack of action. On her Spolitics live show, she stated, “Joe Rogan stood there and said absolutely nothing. At the very least, what you should have said is, ‘We don’t do that here,’ and you can move on.”

She further condemned White for not addressing the incident seriously, claiming he was too aligned with Trump to take a stand. “Dana White has it well within his power to address this in a way that is meaningful and serious,” Hill asserted. “And he won’t do it because his head is too far up Trump’s a--.”

Hill expressed her disillusionment with the UFC, stating, “There is no reason to want to watch something like this.”

Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III labeled Hokit’s comments disgraceful. Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy called them “incredibly gross” and insisted they should have been condemned immediately.

Texas Congressman Christian Menefee described the remarks as racist. White later referred to Hokit’s words as “nasty and false,” while asserting his support for free speech but expressing disdain for such nonsense.

Hokit remained defiant in the face of backlash, posting on Instagram after his victory: “I’m not here to be liked. I’m not here to be a role model. I don’t care. I’m here to succeed.”

The fallout saw Hokit’s supporters inundating the comment sections of Michelle Obama and the Obama Foundation, echoing his remarks while others defended the former First Lady.

President Donald Trump later praised UFC Freedom 250 on Truth Social, mentioning White and several fighters, including Hokit.
