Security Guard Lauded as a Hero After Tragic Shooting at San Diego Islamic Center
Amin Abdullah, a dedicated security guard at the Islamic Center of San Diego, is being hailed as a hero after his courageous actions during a horrific shooting that left five dead, including two teenage suspects.
As chaos erupted within the mosque and school campus, this father of eight reportedly took swift action to protect those inside, potentially saving countless lives.

Community members have taken to social media to express their grief and admiration for Abdullah, calling him a “true hero who gave his life to protect others.”
“The nicest man you’ll ever meet,” one user lamented. “May Allah bless you.”

While police have yet to confirm Abdullah's status as a victim, they acknowledged his critical role in mitigating the situation. “This could have been worse,” authorities stated.
San Diego Police Chief Scott Wahl emphasized, “We do believe the security guard was able to help at least minimize the situation to the front area of the mosque.”

“His actions were heroic; he saved lives today,” Wahl added, praising the bravery of all first responders who rushed toward danger without hesitation.
In a rapid response, officers arrived at the Islamic Center within four minutes of the first emergency calls, launching a dynamic operation to secure the area.

“No community should ever have to go through this,” Chief Wahl remarked, reflecting on the tragedy that unfolded.
Authorities confirmed the identities of the five deceased individuals, including the two teenage suspects, with three victims connected to the Islamic Center. The suspects reportedly died from self-inflicted wounds.

During the response, between 50 and 100 officers flooded the Islamic Center, meticulously searching classrooms, prayer areas, and surrounding buildings for any remaining threats.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities yet to disclose a motive behind this senseless act of violence.
