“Late Night” host Seth Meyers took aim at President Donald Trump’s shifting narrative surrounding the U.S. conflict with Iran, declaring the entire situation a farce.
On Friday, Trump expressed optimism about a potential agreement with Iran, only to pivot dramatically by Sunday, threatening extensive attacks on Iranian civilian targets via social media.
“We went from good news on Iran to ‘no more Mr. Nice Guy’ in just two days; this is like the 37th time it’s happened,” Meyers remarked, referencing a post Trump made on Truth Social that Sunday night. “He keeps calling reporters and spinning tales about a nonexistent deal.”
Meyers showcased a clip from NewsNation where Trump, during a visit to Las Vegas, allegedly told correspondent Kellie Miller that Iran had “agreed to everything.”
“Let’s rewind that clip because there’s a glaring hint that this is nonsense right from the start,” Meyers stated before replaying the footage. “He was in Vegas. You know what they say: what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas—especially when it comes to presidential claims.”
“This is classic Trump behavior. It’s been his modus operandi for years,” Meyers continued. “He’s been fabricating his way through everything, but now he’s doing it in the context of a war, and it’s backfiring; Americans are outraged.”
