New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs dodged a major legal bullet, emerging not guilty from a trial that revolved around a fiery clash with his ex-chef.
The 32-year-old athlete faced serious allegations: one count of felony strangulation and another of misdemeanor assault and battery. The verdict was delivered on May 5 in a Dedham District courtroom after jurors mulled over the evidence for just an hour and a half, as reported by TMZ Sports.
At the center of the storm was Mila Adams, Diggs' former chef, who accused him of choking her during a heated dispute over unpaid wages. “He took his arm and he came around my neck and put his elbow around my neck,” she recounted in court on May 4. “He began to choke me, [put] pressure on my neck.”
This alleged confrontation unfolded in her bedroom back in December 2025, following a tense text exchange about money owed. “He came in intent to hurt me,” Adams testified, describing how Diggs confronted her while leaning against a dresser. “What was all that s*** you was talking?” he allegedly asked before the situation escalated.
Adams claimed that Diggs then “smacked” her with an open hand, igniting the chaos. Adding another layer to the drama, she revealed that they had previously engaged in a sexual relationship before she became his employee. At the time of the alleged incident, Diggs was reportedly dating rapper Cardi B, with reports suggesting that he and Adams had split just days before the Patriots faced off against the Seattle Seahawks in the 2026 Super Bowl.
Adams began her role as Diggs' chef in July 2025, shortly after he joined the Patriots. She claimed to earn $2,000 weekly for preparing his meals while he recovered from a torn ACL that sidelined him during the 2024 season with the Houston Texans. “I’m skilled with recovery, so I knew what it would take to help him get healthy and stay healthy,” she stated.
