Sydney Sweeney and Scooter Braun's Political Rift Exposed Amidst Hand-Holding Stunt

Jun 01 2026

Sydney Sweeney and Scooter Braun were seen holding hands in New York City, a shocking display amid their glaring political differences.

The 28-year-old actress and the 44-year-old music mogul strolled the Upper East Side after an event, with Sweeney hiding behind dark sunglasses while Braun sported classic spectacles. She donned a dark purple dress and heels, while he opted for a dark navy suit paired with a gray tie.

This public outing followed Braun’s recent revelations about his political stance on the Second Thought podcast with Suzy Weiss. He claimed he “never” discloses his voting choices but has previously endorsed Kamala Harris against Donald Trump.

In September 2024, Braun responded to Trump’s criticism of Taylor Swift on X, stating, “Shake It Off, Donald. Kamala 2024.” He identified himself as a moderate, asserting, “So, I kind of vote both ways.”

Despite his moderate claims, Braun hosted fundraisers for Democratic candidates, including Hillary Clinton in 2025 and Kamala Harris during her initial presidential campaign in 2020. He even praised Republican Spencer Pratt, a candidate for Los Angeles mayor, who has distanced himself from Trump and the MAGA movement.

Sweeney’s political affiliations have drawn fire, earning her the label “MAGA Barbie.” On June 14, 2024, she registered as a Republican voter in Florida but refrained from endorsing any candidate during the presidential election.

Backlash erupted in 2022 when she attended her mother’s birthday party, where family members wore red Make America Great Again hats. She took to X to address the uproar, stating, “You guys, this is wild.”

She insisted that the celebration was innocent and not intended as a political statement: “An innocent celebration for my mom's milestone 60th birthday has turned into an absurd political statement, which was not the intention. Please stop making assumptions.”

As a registered Republican, Sweeney received praise from President Trump for her role in an American Eagle ad campaign in July 2025. The ad sparked accusations of promoting white supremacy due to its focus on her blonde-haired, blue-eyed appearance.

Trump lauded her on Truth Social, declaring, “Sydney Sweeney, a registered Republican, has the HOTTEST ad out there. Go get 'em Sydney!”

American Eagle defended Sweeney against the backlash, stating, “Her jeans. Her story. We’ll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way.”

Months later, Sweeney addressed the controversy in an interview with People. She stated, “I don’t support the views some people chose to connect to the campaign. Many have assigned motives and labels to me that just aren’t true.”

“I’m against hate and divisiveness,” she added.
