Trump Unleashes Fury on ‘Disloyal’ GOP Senator Bill Cassidy Amid Louisiana Primary
President Trump unleashed a verbal barrage against Senator Bill Cassidy (R-La.) Saturday, branding him “disloyal” as Louisiana voters cast their ballots. This attack came on a day when Cassidy’s political future hung in the balance due to his controversial impeachment vote from 2021.
“Senator Bill Cassidy of Louisiana is a disloyal disaster. His entire past campaign for the Senate was about ‘TRUMP,’ how he’s with me all the way, and then, after winning, he turned around and voted to IMPEACH me for something that has now proven to be total ‘bulls—!’” Trump raged on Truth Social.

In a tirade that left no room for ambiguity, Trump accused Cassidy of knowing the truth but choosing to ignore it, labeling him a “sleazebag” and a “terrible guy” who is “BAD FOR LOUISIANA.” He ominously predicted that Cassidy was “going to get CLOBBERED.”
This latest chapter in Trump’s political revenge saga unfolded just hours after he reaffirmed his endorsement of Rep. Julia Letlow (R-La.) for Cassidy’s Senate seat.
Last month, Trump had already taken aim at Cassidy for obstructing the nomination of Casey Means for surgeon general, showcasing his ongoing vendetta.

Meanwhile, Cassidy, who is vying for a runoff spot against state Treasurer John Fleming, sidestepped questions during a CNN interview about his impeachment vote. Instead, he urged voters to focus on “living life forward,” dismissing the past as irrelevant.
With an air of confidence, he spoke of “when I’m reelected,” asserting that he is the candidate who has truly “delivered for Louisiana.”

If no candidate secures over 50% of the vote, the top two contenders will face off in a runoff scheduled for June 27.
Political analyst Jessica Taylor from the Cook Political Report weighed in on Cassidy’s precarious position, stating, “It was impeachment. And they changed the primary system.” She highlighted that Cassidy is now forced to navigate a closed primary where MAGA support is essential.
“He was depending upon getting Democratic votes,” Taylor added, underscoring the uphill battle Cassidy faces in this politically charged environment.
