Taxidermy Trendsetter Sparks Outrage with Underwear Made from Dead Rats

May 30 2026

A taxidermist influencer has unleashed a grotesque line of women's underwear crafted from the bodies of dead rodents, sending shockwaves through social media.

Known as Rat Gizzard, this Australian creator has turned her taxidermy skills into a bizarre business, selling rat panties online for approximately £100 each. The unsettling garments are made from stuffed rats, raising eyebrows and questions about ethics.

With over 20,000 followers, Rat Gizzard claims her materials are "responsibly sourced" and insists on transparency regarding the "welfare and husbandry of our animals." However, the reality of her creations has left many disgusted.

These rat panties come with a disturbing caveat: they cannot be washed. Rat Gizzard warns that washing them would ruin the pelt and the insides of the head. Instead, she suggests using a panty liner to keep them clean and wiping them down with a damp cloth if necessary.

While she markets these creepy knickers as wearable, Rat Gizzard also recommends displaying them as art, suggesting they be hung on a clothes hanger. Her portfolio extends beyond underwear; she also crafts lamps and lighters from dead rodent pelts and even features a taxidermized dog head.

Despite her claims of ethical sourcing, critics have slammed her for using real animal bodies in her work. Rat Gizzard defends her practices, stating that her rats come from a reputable Australian farm that supplies frozen pet food. She emphasizes that the supplier adheres to strict ethical and biosecurity standards.

However, skepticism remains. One critic pointedly remarked that true humane sourcing would involve finding already dead rats rather than supporting the killing of animals for such purposes. This sentiment echoes through the comments section, where many express their disgust.

In response to the backlash, Rat Gizzard argued that she must purchase these rats regardless, as she owns eight pets that rely on them for food. She claims to have sought out a better pet food supplier to ensure ethical treatment.

Her intention was not to provoke outrage but to showcase her art to a wider audience. Yet, the bizarre nature of her creations continues to fuel controversy.

"The plan was not for my algorithm to push this out to all the normies of the world who will happily support true animal cruelty via their beauty products," she stated.
