Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's Wedding Sparks Outrage Amid Brutal Heat Wave
New Yorkers are furious as Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce prepare to shut down parts of the city for their wedding amid a brutal heat wave, with temperatures soaring to 100°F.
The couple's wedding is reportedly set for July 3 at Madison Square Garden, causing significant disruption as both Penn Station and Midtown are closed, wreaking havoc on daily commutes. The timing couldn't be worse, with the city matching the historic daily record for July 2 established in 1966.

As the wedding plans unfold, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has urged residents and businesses to set air conditioners to 78 degrees to prevent power grid failures during this multi-day heat wave.
During the setup, sections of 31st Street and 33rd Street surrounding Madison Square Garden have been blocked off for crews preparing for the high-profile ceremony. Commuters and local businesses are feeling the impact just before the Fourth of July weekend, leading many to vent their frustrations on social media.

Extreme heat warnings blanket the Northeast region, amplifying the outrage. One user on X blasted, "Taylor Swift and her boyfriend are the most selfish people in this country. The chaos they are gonna cause in New York is unbelievable. Why didn’t they just go to the Bahamas and have a private ceremony?"
Another user demanded accountability, stating, "There needs to be an investigation into who approved Taylor Swift's permits so she can not only shut down the busiest streets around Penn Station for her wedding. But more importantly, the amount of resources and energy her event will be sucking up the entire weekend, in the middle of a heat wave."

A third critic remarked, "Taylor Swift's MSG wedding will probably blow the NYC Power Grid anyway in 100 degree heat. Police Officers working overtime instead of being with family; all of the Union Workers lugging in heavy equipment, including a baby Grand. I don’t get why it has to be a spectacle; but that’s just me."
Another comment questioned their motives: "Do they really crave attention so badly they would pull a stunt like this? I’ve seen her mansion on the ocean in Rhode Island and it would have been a much better location for a small private wedding."

One user expressed their frustration more bluntly: "IM SO SICK OF THIS SPOILED LIL BRAT SO CALLED PRINCESS! HOW SELFISH. SHUTTING DOWN NYC FOR A COUPLE DAYS. CHARGE HER 4 ALL THE RESOURCES! Nobody will remember her wedding. It’s the 250th, the world cup. Taylor who?"
Another chimed in with a biting remark: "Taylor Swift being a selfish grifter who inconveniences everyone else for the sake of her own happiness sounds about right. Congrats on the nuptials."
Taylor and Travis got engaged in December of 2025 after two years of dating, with the Kansas City Chiefs star proposing during an intimate moment in a backyard garden filled with flowers.
