Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian's Heart-Wrenching Miscarriage Before Welcoming Son Rocky
Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian faced a gut-wrenching miscarriage before the birth of their son Rocky, a revelation that hits hard in his upcoming Hulu documentary.
At the premiere of Travis Barker: Love Is Louder Than Fear, Kardashian, 47, and Barker, 50, opened up about their harrowing journey to expand their family. They were pregnant just six months into their relationship in 2021, expecting a girl they planned to name Tulip.
Tragedy struck when Kardashian learned at a three-month check-up that their baby had no heartbeat. “When we lost the baby, we were devastated,” Kardashian stated in the documentary, set to premiere on August 13. “We cried for days.”
The couple's attempts to conceive continued with five IVF attempts over eight months. Ultimately, they decided to take a break, which led to the conception of their son Rocky, now 2.
Kardashian and Barker welcomed their baby boy in November 2023. Kardashian also has three children—Mason, Penelope, and Reign—with ex Scott Disick. Barker shares two children, Landon and Alabama, with ex-wife Shanna Moakler, and is a father figure to Moakler’s daughter Atiana.
After tying the knot in 2022, the couple documented their struggles with fertility. They initially pursued IVF but faced significant challenges due to side effects.
Kardashian expressed her desire for a baby, stating, “I would love a baby more than anything, but I just really believe in what God has in store for us.”

She felt pressured to freeze her eggs but clarified that it’s not a guaranteed solution. “The freezing of the eggs isn’t guaranteed. I think that that’s a misunderstanding,” she explained. “Most of them didn’t survive the thaw and then none of them made it to an embryo.”
After the toll IVF took on her body, Kardashian stepped back from the process. “My health is still impacted because it’s hormones. And also mentally, it definitely took a toll,” she noted. “We are just embracing that whatever’s meant to be will be.”
Kardashian later became pregnant but chose not to disclose it during filming for season 4. “The whole season [I was pregnant],” she revealed in a November 2023 episode. “I am five months pregnant. I have not told most people.”
She recounted how they stopped IVF two months before their wedding in May 2022, leading to a year for hormones to clear from her system. “We were not trying whatsoever. I didn’t even check my ovulation anymore.”
Before Rocky's birth, Kardashian underwent emergency surgery. The procedure went well, but she described the experience as “terrifying.”
“That experience opened my eyes to a whole new world of pregnancy that I didn’t know about in the past,” she told Vogue in October 2023. She learned that insurance typically covers only two ultrasounds during pregnancy, which shocked her.
Kardashian concluded with newfound confidence: “I’ve finally been able to let go of the fear and worry that everybody else put in us because of this pregnancy.”
Travis Barker: Love Is Louder Than Fear premieres on Hulu August 13.
