Trump Administration Claims to Have Turned Reflecting Pool Blue—Reality Says Otherwise!
President Donald Trump’s administration insists it transformed the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool into a blue spectacle, but the reality is a murky green mess, not the pristine swimming pool they envisioned.
Leftover algae in the pipes became the scapegoat for the administration’s failure. Department of the Interior workers deployed nanobubblers, vacuums, and hydrogen peroxide in a desperate attempt to clean the pool. On Wednesday evening, they proclaimed success.
“The Reflecting Pool water is crystal clear, and our National Park Service team is now vacuuming up the dead algae resting on the bottom of some parts of the Reflecting Pool – just like the destroyed Iranian Navy resting on the bottom of the Persian Gulf,” the agency boasted on social media.
The agency even claimed the water was “so ‘blue’ that the Fake News Media, which has been staked out at the Reflecting Pool for weeks, has fled!”
However, HuffPost was present on Wednesday afternoon, and the water was far from blue. The low-angle shots may have reflected the sky, creating an illusion of blue, but reality told a different story.
A side view revealed a striking slime green hue. Up close, bits of algae floated on the surface, obscuring any trace of the “American flag blue” paint recently applied beneath layers of green plant matter. Two ducklings were spotted paddling through the murky water.
Satellite imagery analysis indicates that this algae bloom is among the worst in years. Experts suggest that the dark blue surface may have contributed to warmer water temperatures on sunny days, exacerbating the algae problem.
In essence, to echo the administration’s own analogy, their efforts to clean up the reflecting pool mirror their track record on regime change in Iran.
